Moving On To Something New

Eric Schultz // May 23, 2017

I wanted to let everyone know that I’ve recently accepted another position and that June 23 will be my last day serving as prpl Community Manager. While I’m excited for my new position as Lead Developer at CommitChange, I’m saddened at no longer working with the amazing people in the prpl Foundation and OpenWrt/LEDE communities. I’m thankful that I’ve been able to meet so many fascinating, dedicated people as part of my work at prpl and that we’ve accomplished so much together. I’m particularly proud of what we have accomplished to build OpenWrt Summit from an idea into a growing, annual event.

While I will be leaving most of my responsibilities at prpl behind, I intend to stay involved in a number of ways:

  • Serving on OpenWrt Summit Committee (but likely not as chair)
  • Continuing education on the effects of regulation on wireless freedom and innovation
  • Mentoring for the NetJSONConfig/SCAL Google Summer of Code project

I’ll also stay generally involved in free and open source software. You may be wondering why I'd be joining an organization which isn't well known in free and open source software. While I can't explain in detail quite yet, you can trust that free software will be core to my work going forward. I wish I could tell you the details but I can't quite yet. Stay tuned! :)
